Julia Irene Waters and David Robert Brinton were united in marriage on Oct. 28, 2017, at Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church in Arlington, Va., The Rev. Timothy Malone officiated at the 4 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Robert and Kate Waters of Arlington, Va. and the late Thomas Renehan. She is a graduate of Yorktown High School and earned an undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. The bride received her juris doctor degree from the University of Richmond and is employed as an associate attorney with Cooley LLP in Washington, D.C.

The groom is the son of Robert and Karen Brinton of North Wilkesboro. He is a graduate of Tupelo High School in Tupelo, Miss., and received a bachelor of business administration degree in economics from Mississippi State University in Starkville, Miss. The groom earned a master of public policy and administration degree as well as a master of arts degree in economics from Mississippi State University. He is currently working toward his juris doctor degree at Georgetown University Law Center, while being employed as manager of congressional and public affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C.

The bride was given in marriage by her stepfather, Robert Waters.

Mrs. Jenn Holloway of Cary was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Allie Egan of New York, N.Y.; Dr. Amy Schell of Pittsburg, Pa.; Dr. Alexandra Tilt, sister-in-law of the bride, and Mrs. Frances Stringer of Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Nina Turton of London, England; and Mrs. Shannon Weist of Richmond, Va.

Robert Donald Brinton of North Wilkesboro served as best man for his son. Groomsmen were Garrett Guynes of Memphis, Tenn.; Nelson  McGough Jr. of Starkville, Miss.; John Thompson of Dallas, Texas; Dr. Jack Renehan, James Stringer and Timothy Wolverton, all of Washington, D.C.

Ushers were Patrick Miller of Starkville, Miss., and Tyson Owen of Madison, Miss.

Flower girl was Miss Gabriella Colleen Govea of Falls Church, Va., niece and goddaughter of the groom. Jackson Alexander Tenney of Valdosta, Ga., nephew of the groom, was ring bearer.

A reception was held in honor of the bridal couple in the Astor Ballroom at the St. Regis in Washington, D.C. Disc jockey Marc Augenbraum provided music.

Following a wedding trip to Costa Rica, the couple is residing in Washington, D.C.
