On June 24, Gary and Monica Brewer were honored at a 25th wedding anniversary reception, hosted by Mrs. Brewer’s parents, Andy and Dorothy Walker, at Gambill Estate in Roaring River. Approximately 50 guests attended.

Family and friends were served a meal of pork tenderloin, cole slaw, baked beans and rolls, along with tea and water.  A special table, decorated with a 25th Milestone centerpiece, was set aside for a punch fountain and cake.

The three-tiered anniversary cake, decorated with white roses, green leaves, blue cornflowers, mauve wisteria, white baby’s breath, white scroll work, white icing dots and silver rhinestone trim, was adorned with a 25th anniversary crystal and rhinestone topper.

Mrs. Brewer was presented a corsage of white roses and green leaves, mauve wisteria and white baby’s breath, with blue and silver ribbon accents.  Mr. Brewer was given a boutonniere of a white rose and green leaf, mauve wisteria, white baby’s breath and blue and silver ribbon accents.

Decorations included table centerpieces of silk white roses, greenery, blue cornflowers, mauve wisteria, white baby’s breath, silver bows and anniversary sprays, with silver rhinestones. The arrangements were placed in blue jars on wood bases. Flameless silver tea light candles and blue, white and silver glass gems also accented the tables. Gray cloths and royal blue runners covered the tables. Chairs were covered with satin sashes. Message cards were placed on each table, providing unique facts about the couple. Guest favors were messaged 25th anniversary bookmarks with tassels.

Many other 25th anniversary decorations were set up throughout the venue including 25th anniversary hanging foil swirls,  and white and silver 25th anniversary honeycombs and anniversary centerpieces.

The couple’s table was adorned with a double-heart centerpiece of white roses, white lace and white pearl-beaded sprays, anniversary glasses and silver latex balloons, as well as a fresh flower arrangement with 25th anniversary rhinestone sprays.    

A special memory table was set up to display pictures of the couple’s wedding and throughout the past 25 years, as well as the couple’s wedding invitation, program, bookmark, scroll and napkin. The table was decorated with anniversary balloons, centerpiece and flowers in the couple’s chosen colors.

The gift table was also decorated in a 25th anniversary motif. Among the many special gifts were an anniversary plate, cross and figurine, as well as cards, gift cards and well-wishes. An anniversary gift book was available for guests to sign.

Guests listened to instrumental mountain music from the Smoky Mountain Sweethearts Collection, played on a Victrola wood desktop jukebox.

After their celebration, the couple celebrated  their anniversary with a trip to Niagara Falls and points of interest in the New York area.

Assisting with the event were Andy and Dorothy Walker; Eric Gambill of Gambill Estate; Paula and Matt Ferguson, the Scarlet Hen; Tamera Shepherd; Dale Younger with A&J Rental and Frances Moore with Queen’s Florist.

The couple was married at Billings Hill Baptist Church in Traphill on June 27,  1993.
