Shane and Sharon Blackburn celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a dinner reception on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at Mountain View Ruritan Club, Hays.

Hosts were their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Roten and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Blackburn. The couple’s daughter, Katelyn Blackburn, served as the photographer.

Brushy Mountain Smokehouse and Creamery assisted with the event. Guests were served barbecue, grilled chicken breast, baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad, baked apples, rolls and hushpuppies, along with tea, water, coffee and punch. Approximately 40 guests attended.

The three-tiered anniversary cake, provided by Evelyn LeFever, consisted of two tiers of red velvet with chocolate ganache and cream cheese icing and one tier of vanilla with almond buttercream. Almond buttercream was placed on the cake in a ribbon design, with fresh lavender and white roses adorning each tier. Two entwined silver hearts with diamond accents, which matched the serving set, topped the cake.

Centerpiece for the food table was a clear vase of purple liatris, white casablanca lilies, hydrangea and mums, accented with diamond-encrusted lavender roses, purple statice and lavender limonium. Guest tables were covered with purple cloths with matching flowers in clear, cube vases.

A special table covered with a sliver cloth displayed the couple’s wedding album and photographs of the honored couple. The gift table was decorated in a similar motif.

A separate table held Mrs. Blackburn’s wedding dress, bouquet, an invitation, program and a napkin with the date of their wedding, and another table held a silver tray with gift favors of personalized message bookmarks.

The anniversary couple was presented with a corsage and boutonniere of lavender roses, limonium and white pearl bead sprays, entwined with white, sheer silver-edged ribbons.

The couple exchanged gifts to each other. Mrs. Blackburn was given a white gold diamond ring and Mr. Blackburn was given a white gold wedding band. They continued to celebrate their anniversary with a trip to the Great Smoky Mountains.

The Blackburns were married at Billings Hill Baptist Church in Traphill on Sept. 26, 1992.
