Wilkes Partnership for Children hosted its first diaper drive-in event on Sept. 10, serving 104 families and 162 children in Wilkes County.

From 5-7 p.m., families could receive free diapers and wipes they signed up for by showing a pre-registration code.

Diapers and baby wipes were donated to the Partnership by March of Dimes, in partnership with Unilever and Seventh Generation. The donation was in memory of Sophia Almeida Gutfleisch. Her parents, Sandra Almeida and Harald Gutfleisch, lead this in her memory.

People who missed the Sept. 10 drive and need help with baby essentials such as diapers and wipes can contact the Wilkes Partnership for Children at 336-838-0977 for assistance.
