Matters involving the COVID-19 outbreak are on the agenda for the regularly-scheduled Wilkes County Board of Education meeting Monday. It starts at 5:30 p.m.

Because of the COVID-19 outbreak, the meeting is being held virtually using Zoom (a conferencing service) rather than having school board members and others physically meet. With Zoom, the public can listen in on the meeting live with any type of phone.

Items on the agenda listed under “Wilkes County Schools Response to COVID-19 Update” and school personnel presenting them are:

• “feeding programs,” Marty Johnson, director of child nutrition;

• “employee options,” Dr. Westley Wood, assistant superintendent of human resources;

• “technology,” Julie Triplett, chief technology officer.

Other items related to the COVID-19 outbreak are the Wilkes school system’s remote learning plan, grading recommendations from the N.C. Department of Public Instruction and high school senior graduation project requirements.

How to access the meeting

According to a statement on the Wilkes County Schools website, people wishing to hear the meeting need to dial 1-646-558-8656 on a phone. When prompted, enter the meeting ID number (846 106 961), followed by the pound symbol. This is the number symbol (#). You’ll then be asked to press pound (#) again as a meeting participant.

People can join to listen in at any time while the meeting is underway.
