PruittHealth on Johnson Ridge Road in Elkin is no longer on the state’s list of congregate care facilities with COVID 19 outbreaks.

A PruittHealth spokesman said the skilled nursing and rehabilitation center had no positive or presumptive positive COVID-19 cases as of Sunday. The facility de-escalated from Alert Code Red to Alert Code Amber and is accepting new admissions and letting additional staff and limited vendors enter, the spokesman said.

The facility had 72 COVID-19 cases in August and September. These included 52 residents and 20 staff members. Ten of the 72 people died.

The spokesman said newly-admitted patients at PruttHealth will be quarantined for 14 days to monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19. Call 855-742-5983 for more details.

A COVID-19 outbreak in a congregate living facility is defined as two or more confirmed COVID-19 cases. An outbreak is considered over if there is no evidence of continued transmission within 28 days.
