PARKS / RECREATION MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN - Grade 59. An employee in this class is responsible for independently maintaining assigned parks including prioritizing tasks and completing work ensuring ball fields are prepared, landscaping and facilities are maintained and repaired. Work may involve serving as the lead worker for part time seasonal workers as assigned. Work involves operating riding and push mowers, tractors, weed eaters, chain saws, power blowers, etc. to cut grass prepare ball fields, trim and clean fields, grounds and facilities, and to perform other horticultural landscaping tasks. Work includes performing basic trade work in plumbing and electrical tasks. Employee must be able to perform manual labor, as well as semi-skilled duties. Job also requires snow removal, clean up of downed trees, emergency situations, etc. at county buildings and the Greenway before and after normal working hours. Work is performed under the supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director. Possession of a valid N.C. driver's license is required. Graduation from high school or equivalent and considerable related experience supplemented by training in some of the trades in building and grounds maintenance which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
