The Wilkes Sheriff’s Office arrested a man after a motor vehicle chase in Hays and Traphill on July 29.

Deputy Coby Greene reported that he arrested Casey Aaron Prevette on Longbottom Road in Traphill after the Nissan Versa Prevette was driving ran out of gas. Prevette’s age and address weren’t immediately available from the sheriff’s office.

Greene said he was stationary in his patrol car at the intersection of Yellow Banks and Dehart Church road when he observed the Nissan traveling at a high rate of speed.

Greene said he attempted unsuccessfully to stop the vehicle and pursued it until the driver was forced to stop due to the vehicle running out of gas. At that point, the driver and female passenger were placed into custody.

Greene said the passenger was later released from custody and transported back to her residence.
