Chief Master Sgt. Craig D. Bare retired from the U.S. Air Force at the end of September with 30 years of service.

Bare is the son of Marion Bare of Millers Creek and the late Naomi Houg Bare and the brother of Amanda Bare of Millers Creek.

He graduated from West Wilkes High School in 1989. While growing up, Bare was in Boy Scout in Troop 399 in Millers Creek, earning Eagle Scout.

He joined the Air Force in 1991, and has achieved over 35 major awards, honors, promotions and decorations. Bare served in Southwest Asia, Kosovo and Afghanistan. He is leaving the military with a bachelor of science degree in logistics management

Bare was squadron superintendent logistics readiness squadron at Moody AFB in Georgia when he retired.
