Services held today for Jim Shore Jr., who died Tuesday

James Allen (Jim) Shore Jr., 51, Wiles Ridge Road, Hays died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011.

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 23, 2: p.m., at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Traphill with the Rev. Mickey York and the Rev. Ted Combs officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in the church cemetery.

The family received friends at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church from 12:30 until 1:30 Friday afternoon prior to the service.

Mr. Shore was born in Wilkes County, Feb. 7, 1960 to James Allen Shore, Sr. and Betty Gambill Shore. He served in the Marine Corps, where he attained the rank of corporal. He was assigned to the 1st Marine Brigade, Fleet Marine Force in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, serving on the USS Peleliu. He was awarded many medals and honors, including the Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with one star and the Humanitarian Service Medal with two devices.

Mr. Shore graduated from North Wilkes High School and Wilkes Community College and was a job coordinator for L E Myers Corporation in their Southwestern division. He was an avid sportsman.

Mr. Shore is survived by his fiancée, Tammy Wood of Hays; one daughter, Courtney Shore Herron and husband, Samuel, of Nashville, Tenn.; one son, David Allen Shore and wife, Vanessa, of Fort Bragg; his mother, Betty Gambill Shore of Hays, his father, James Allen Shore Sr. of Hamptonville; and one sister, Sloan Shore of Nashville.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials to the Marine Corps League, P.O. Box 1066, North Wilkesboro, N.C. 28659.
