Jesse Garmon, president of  Integrity Design & Displays Inc., has announced the acquisition of  Wilkes County-based Southern Candle, which makes hand-poured candles.

“We are pleased to combine Southern Candle’s resources with those here at Integrity Design & Display. Merging Southern Candle into our family will promote the growth of both companies, add jobs here in the community, increase product development, and allow us to provide the highest level of customer service to all of our clients,” said Garmon.

Integrity Design & Display, Inc. currently manufactures retail fixtures, displays, residential and commercial cabinetry, and digital printing for customers nationwide.

Southern Candle produces candles that are hand-poured by local craftsmen using a soy-based wax.

The 14-year-old company was created and operated by local businessmen, Randy Whittington and Gary Jordan.

“This has been a labor of love for them,” said Garmon, “and they are happy to see it entering into a new phase of growth.”

Whittington and Jordan are going to act as advisors as the manufacturing process is moved to Integrity’s 50,000- square-foot facility located at 151 Lineberry Road in Wilkesboro.

They are also going to continue to operate their existing retail store located at 915 Cherry Street in North Wilkesboro where they have sold the Southern Candle product directly to the public.

The current employees of Southern Candle involved in the manufacturing process are moving to the new location to lead the candle production and train the expanding workforce.

Garmon and his design team are already developing and testing some new products that are scheduled to launch early next year.

Integrity Design and Display, Inc. is a local business that is growing by bringing companies together that are mutually beneficial.

Originally a small retail display manufacturer started by Jesse Garmon and his wife, Becky, Integrity has added divisions as needed to eliminate outsourcing and keep the manufacturing process under control.

Garmon summed up the benefits of combining Southern Candles with Integrity.

“Our company is uniquely capable of bringing a quality product like Southern Candle into the mainstream. We can design and manufacture product-specific displays to help our wholesale customers better promote the candles to their customers,” said Garmon.

He said his company can provide labeling, merchandising, and signage to those same clients through its printing division.

“The product development team and production workforce is used to meeting strict deadlines and quality standards with innovative products. I believe this is something our new customers will certainly appreciate,” said Garmon.

A purchase price was not disclosed.
