NOTICE OF WILKES COUNTY BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT HEARING
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Wilkes County Board of Adjustment will conduct a hearing on Monday, March 25, 2013, at 5:30 p.m. in the Commissioners’ Room at the County Office Building in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, for the purpose of considering an Application for Temporary Mobile Home Permit filed under the Wilkes County Zoning Ordinance. Information pertaining to the Application for Temporary Mobile Home Permit is as follows:
1. Party requesting the variance: Lloyd and Fannie Triplett, 938 Boomer Road, Boomer, North Carolina 28606.
2. Location of property for which the variance is requested: The property is located at 942 Boomer Road, Boomer, North Carolina 28606, and identified on the records of the Wilkes County Tax Mapping office as PIN # 3825-88-3634.
3. Nature of variance: The Wilkes County Zoning Ordinance allows temporary mobile home permits upon the finding of a personal hardship or incompatibility. A temporary mobile home permit for this purpose was previously approved for the year 2012 by the Wilkes County Board of Adjustment at a hearing held on December 29, 2011. The applicant is now seeking to renew this permit for the year 2013.
The hearing shall be conducted, and this Notice is given, pursuant to the Rules of Procedure for the Wilkes County Board of Adjustment. A copy of the Rules of Procedure may be obtained by contacting the Wilkes County Planning Department, Wilkes County Office Building, 110 North Street, Wilkesboro, North Carolina, (336) 651-7350.

Tuition hike explanation unreasonable

In explaining why the community college would need to bill students twice, (Wilkes Journal-Patriot, July 15, 2015), Sen. Shirley Randleman and Rep. Jeffery Elmore, our legislators in Raleigh, explained that as more people get jobs, fewer have to turn to community colleges for retraining. They said this resulted in a shortfall in revenue generated by the community college system, and necessitated a tuition hike to make up the difference.
